CEBRAP is a non-profit multi-disciplinary research institution focused on the study of humanities, where sociologists, political scientists, philosophers, anthropologists and demographers develop studies on Brazilian society
It was founded in 1969 by a group of researchers, many of whom had lost their university positions under the military dictatorship. It is dedicated to the study of Brazil's social reality and participation in political and institutional debates.
